President Obama’s first foreign visit to be to Canada

New U.S. presidents, dating to Warren Harding in 1923 and Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933, have typically made Canada their first international visit following their election. There are a number of important issues to talk about. But there might be some problems because of  ideological differences. Harper was close to (President) Bush on foreign policy positions and Kyoto. When asked how he would pursue improvements to NAFTA’s labour and environmental standards, Obama replied: “I would immediately call the president of Mexico, the Prime Minister of Canada, to try to amend NAFTA. Only time will tell what will come of this visit? With that said in order to respond to so many requests for a copy of the Notice of Arbitration we will post it on this site shortly.
