JOB ANNOUNCEMENT NAFTA/CAFTA-DR

The Office of the Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State seeks an attorney with at least 8-10 years of litigation and arbitration experience to serve as Chief of NAFTA/CAFTA-DR Arbitration.

The Chief leads the team that represents the United States as a Respondent or non-disputing Party in investor-state arbitration under Chapter 11 of the NAFTA and Chapter 10 of the CAFTA-DR. The Chief also provides legal support for the negotiation of bilateral investment treaties and investment chapters of free trade agreements.

Salary: up to GS Level 15 - Step 10, commensurate with experience. Significant experience leading teams of attorneys in all aspects of international arbitration matters and a detailed understanding of investment treaty arbitration are required. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
